Reading Benefits | How to Elevate Your Mind

There was a time in my life when I didn’t know how important my mind was… I didn’t prioritize my mind and I didn’t know it’s worth. When I started to elevate my mind and understanding that if I freed my mind, i’d free my life… everything changed.

Im still in the process of learning and I’m being patient but responsible with my growth. Meaning I allow myself, to hold myself accountable while also not being too hard on myself.

Progress equals growth.

The most important thing I’ve learned is that the mind is the most important thing you have. You can’t do anything without your mind. The mind will always come first… then the body follows.

Whatever you do, the mind has to think of it first before it can become a physical thing.. whether that’s you creating your best life or simply using the bathroom.

You see, you want to protect your mind and what goes into it because if you don’t you’ll be setting yourself up for anything… It’s just like going on a trip without a map or plan.

They even say stand for something or you’ll fall for anything or something like that lol But no really, it truly is the same concept.

They say if you want to hide something from a black person… put it in a book.

I’m here to tell you its 2024 and only you are responsible for not picking up a book and educating yourself. What happened has happened but now, you have access to information in the palm of your hands and a lot it is even free.

I’m really not judging… I wasn’t always a reader either. When I was at a point of massive change in my life, I knew it was time to pick up a book so that’s what I did…

Day by day I made myself sit down and read.

After that, I would follow what was told to me in the book. meaning i didn’t just read the book and pat myself on the back. I took actionable steps in my real life according to what I read. This helped me change my reality and bring real change for myself that i was no longer just reading but living.

The book that changed things for me was The 5am Club. It wasn’t one of those boring books that put you to sleep. It was a book that drew me in and was relatable in ways I never expected. Most importantly, it was easy to read. Now that was big for me because if a book isn’t easy to read how can you enjoy reading it? I’m not one to read boring things for too long but I am working on that currently as well lol

I want to share with you some of my personal best tips for becoming a reader and actually enjoying it. (even if the book is boring…)

First, you have to find your reading style.. What kind of books do you like to read? I think reading should be enjoyable so its important to know your favorite genres, topics, authors and even tones. Truth is… you won’t know until you get out there and pick up a book.

Next, find your favorite place and time to read. If you have a dedicated time and place to read that you love you are more likely to read more often. Its helpful to create the right conditions to help you thrive. so find what time is best for you to read and a cozy quiet place to get it done.

Lastly, Implement the things you read. Don’t be that person that reads but does nothing with the information. Allow yourself to read and implement the information so that you can see the benefits in your life. When you see your life improving, you are more likely to stick with it.
